Experimental investigation of gabion broad-crested weirs under upstream partial blockage conditions

Abstract The attention of researchers and engineers has been attracted to gabion weirs due their environmental, hydraulic, stability capabilities compared with solid weirs. One the possible problems is partial blockage caused by sedimentation upstream them. This research experiment investigates hydraulic performance broad-crested (GBCWs) an blockage. For this purpose, a total 147 experiments were studied different conditions for free-flow conditions. tested five between 0% 100% weir height (0, 0.25P, 0.5P, 0.75P, P). results showed that increasing decreases discharge coefficient. changes in coefficients are minor less than greater significantly reduced. As increases, effect filling-material size decreases. Finally, relationship was developed using nonlinear regression analysis approach estimate coefficient GBCWs
